A Promise That I Won't Keep

The title of this blog reminds me of The Promise Keepers. I think that's a group of Christian teens who promise they won't have sex until they're legally wed, but I might be making that up. I know David Cross refers to it in his stand-up act.

Anyway, I really need to get to the blog more. I am busy at work and the day usually flies by, but I should be able to do it after work or at teh beginning of the day. I also have Halloween window pics to upload too.

I've been packing boxes and packing boxes, even though I'm not moving until the end of October. I can't seem to help myself. All of my books are packed away and I started taking down the decor yesterday. I guess it's better than waiting until the last minute. I found this one interesting thing I'd forgotten about--a bag of cassette tapes from when I lived in Chicago. I used to have this really old stereo with a tape recorder in it, and every once in awhile, I'd pop in a cassette and then do like an oral diary of what was going on. I am frightened to listen to them. I know they'll be about boys and only boys. I remember one guy I had a hard time getting over, and I didn't even like him. He was a med student and we met at a party. I think we went out just a few times, but he was one of those jump in immediately guys because he's just broken up with his girlfriend (also named Aimee, though I'm sure spelled Amy). I knew I was in trouble when I saw that he still had a box of her tampons in his bathroom, as though waiting for her to return. He wasn't over her, of course. He took me to his parents once and they lived in this huge McMansion in the suburbs. He washed his car in the front lawn while I watched and said, You're sweet. He said, No, you're the sweetie-pie. He also had a lot of back hair. And yet, it took me like 3 months and five hours of tapes to get over him. And he had a vanity plate on his car that was something like B-hair4U.

You made me listen to a lot of those. They WERE all about boys (the boys at the dental school are what I remember...).
