Brooklyn Pictures: The New Baby and Liz's Cleavage

Image
The new baby has arrived. Jonathan Joseph? Jonathan + Something Else that begins with the letter "J." I may have mentioned that this makes me afraid they will start calling him J.J. We went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with the baby and he was very good, though didn't do anything interesting. I hear they don't get interesting until they're around 4 or 5 years old, and that's only when they accidentally say something funny. Liz and Luke were both still their calm selves and seem to have it all under control. Except for the cleavage thing. Here is Dan being forced to hold the baby. But he kind of likes it. The baby next tried to breast feed and got a mouthful of chest hair.

Wuthering Heights Starring the Cast of The English Patient

I caught some of the 1992 film version of Wuthering Heights last night, starring Ralph Fiennes as Heathcliff and Juliette Binoche in the dual role of Catherine and Catherine (I think?). Fast forward to 1996 and they are once again together in The English Patient . I am so proud of myself for making that obvious connection. I read Wuthering Heights a long time ago, and had it confused for awhile with Jane Eyre , and so was upset at the end when Heathcliff died in this version. I thought the manor would be burning down and he would end up with the living Catherine, not the dead one. I also thought that the mad wife would eventually be revealed (again, wrong story). Imagine my surprise when Catherine ran off with the farm boy (her cousin? Nephew? Brother in law once removed?). It reminds me that I need to be reading better books. Any time I read interviews with well-known authors, they're always talking about how they read Chekov every day and are inspired by the writing of Henry Ja...

Do Not Take Pity on the Disabled Cat

Image
That would be unfair. Treat Percy just like any other animal with only three legs and one hat. He is jaunty and can still climb up to perch on refrigerators. For some reason, this photo of Biscuit makes me laugh. I guess because he has such a huge head made even more noticeable now because of the bitty hat. Also, he just looks like he's sauntering here, about to say, Tally-ho, mate! These are Jason's cats, by the way. There's one more, Dinosaur, who refused to participate. Someday, I may again write about other things that are happening in my life, but not this week.

Let the Cat Wars Begin

Image
The cat hat from Liz is making the rounds, so now I have a new purpose in life: to determine the cutest kitty picture among my friends at work. Jason is taking it home this weekend. He has a 3-legged cat named Percy who may wear it, but we can't be prejudicial when choosing the winner. Anyway, here's candidate #2. This is Trina's cat, Lovey. She looks a lot like Emma Carol. You can't tell from this photo, but Lovey has no tail. She does know how to work a hat though.

Kitty Hat

While in Brooklyn this weekend to meet the new baby, Jonathan Joseph Gerwe, I was given a late birthday present from Liz and Luke, even though I came to their house empty-handed (not even a onesie or pacifier in tow). The present was a very jaunty felt kitty hat from etsy. The job now is to take pictures of my various cats wearing it. In the meantime, my friends at work are doing the same. Please say hello to Penny, who belongs to Lisa V. She is very, very pretty. As pretty as a...penny! Admit it, you are jealous of her flair.

Why The Bachelorette is the Dumbest Show in the World

(And me the even bigger fool for watching it). Though, let's be real, people, I haven't been very good about sitting down for it every week. And there will be no video b/c Dan is in Princeton and I don't quite have the energy to make a video of myself. Okay, the reason it's ludicrous : 1. All of the characters have the same limited vocabulary comprised mostly of adjectives. Those words are: amazing, magical, amazing, true love, love of my life, hardest decision ever, amazing, beautiful and amazing, wonderful, devastating, amazing, best experience of my entire life, cherish, journey, awesome, amazing, special, especially amazing. 2. No one can fall in love with someone when there are 30 cameras rolling and yet they always pretend that it's happening. Every time. 3. Why doesn't anyone ever say anything (intentionally) funny? They must have some sense of humor, and yet, they're either totally edited out or they're so coached that they aren't able to go ...

This Regular Blog is Becoming a Video Blog

Yes, I'm sorry about that. I've been having trouble getting to this blog as much as I would like because of work and being lazy. But we watched the whole entire thing last night, which also means that this is a fairly long video recap.I look darling in it, as per usual, except for when I look like a sausage. This season of taping recaps has taught me two things: (1). I never want to go blond; and (2). I can't wait for the next season when I can play more than one character. Dan is a trooper. When my friends see one of these videos, they always say, What a good sport he is! But trust me, he likes doing this as much as I do. Or more.
