Adam Made This

I see Kathy B. every day and she's the best. Here she is discussing her typewriter as captured by Adam's Videolicious app (the jury is still out about whether or not we like this app).

My New Favorite Show/Person

Image
I recognize that I've let almost two whole months go by without writing here, but I do think about writing a post pretty much every day, if that counts for anything. I will try to write three posts this week, but they will be short ones. For today, I'd like to share with you a video from Inside Amy Schumer , a show on Comedy Central that I just started watching (missed the entire season somehow). I like her stand-up, even though at first I was comparing her to Sarah Silverman--the blond version of Silverman, you know, the pretty girls who says outrageous things. But then I got past that because I think she's really funny and smart.  Here's one of the show's kits about a courtship with a man who might seems suspiciously preoccupied with her character's perm. My favorite part is when she runs into him and the contents of her purse spill out onto the sidewalk. I hope it makes you LOL.

Some Vine Videos

Of good and bad and indifferent quality. I'm still figuring out the process... First, Emma Carol. Click on the little audio button in the top left if you want sound. This is called "The Many Faces of Emma Carol," but there is really only one. The one with the constantly weepy eye. Then, we made a Vine at a local pizza restaurant showing bunnies multiplying. It's called, "What Bunnies Do." And finally, here's six yoga postures, done on the fly.

No Thanks

I don't think I'll be moving out to LA. I think all of the things that they say about LA in movies is true. Everyone is full of it, everyone is trying to get noticed, egos are on the line every second of the day, every time you walk down the street. I'm thinking about this because I have a friend at work whose aunt used to date a recognizable musician, someone from a band you've heard of and they have that one song whose chorus you sort of know. Anyway, he was once normal looking--he has a movie star cleft chin and blue eyes, but recent photos of him show that he's been through the plastic surgery machine. He has that mask-like face and perfectly straight, gleaming white row of teeth. And I can just imagine all the b.s. he hears all the time around him--"no, you look great, you look great. That new album is going to go gold!" And I imagine that tons of people go out to LA thinking because they had the lead in their high school play in Clearwater, Flor...

Henri, Jean Paul Satre's version

Leigh Ann sent me a link to "30 Renowned Authors Inspired by Cats." I found this video under Jean Paul Satre. The cat featured has the same name and spelling as my dearly departed Henri. And sort of the same attitude about the world.

Something I've Always Wondered

An experimental video with marginally conclusive results.

Mean Kitty

This morning, I took a moment to document the mean/nice/purring/hissing essence that is Emma Carol. Here are the results.

This Video Makes Me Happy + Friday Photos

Even though Dan's not in it. I also have tons of photos from the trip to Florida---including a long series that Luke took when he and Dan went to the Clearwater Rescue Marina Aquarium Extravaganza, but I'm too lazy to post them. Here are just a few highlights.Or a lot. These are all in backwards order. I'll add captions later...

Dan's here!

Missed the beginning b/c we were eating some crazy burrito tortilla deal. Brad is man enough to wear a pink shirt. If he ends up not liking this girl he's on a one on one date with, she gets sent home. How is it that no one else is at this amusement park? This girl needs to stand on her own two feet, she says. Brad says she sounds like she's preparing for the worse. she says that she wants to confess things about her family and she can't stop gesturing. Is she trying to make Brad cry? Did your dad love you? Can I call you Ass? he says. Absolutely! says Ass-ley.Brad wnats to have so many more conversations like this later, just not with her. Oh, but he gave her the rose anyway. The ride to the top of the Ferris Wheel and CBS gets an nice upskirt shot of Assley. I WISH I had the same size of earings that this girl with the birthday has. She is wearing bicycle wheels on her head. Many, many of these women are blonds and look exactly the same. This one blond says she's go...

Cats for Christmas

This is what happens in the morning whenever Dan stays over and the cats are in the basement all night. I get to set them free!

Donate Your Organs, For Free!

The teacher chose the story about organ donation for my research project. I'm okay with that. I need to find my journals from when I was working at the organ transplant place (we'll call it Present of Life from now on or POL). I have some very specific memories of that place, mainly that we talked about who died over the weekend every Monday morning and that I saw a severed head in a cooler once on a work field trip to visit the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation . I will not be donating my body to science. About my previous post on scleroderma, my mother informs me: Aim, my cousin Sister Martin Clare, had scleroderma, and might have died of it, but she was killed in a tractor accident on one of very few visits to her parents' home. Her brother, my cousin Paul Koenig, was driving the tractor, when she got caught by her veil in one of the big wheels on the back of the tractor. We went to her funeral in Concordia, Kansas; I rode with Dave in Grandpa LaBrie's ...

This bicycle, besides being built for hauling stuff, also has a sticker that reads "I heart rogue taxidermy." Here is a smooshed tabby face. I worried at first that maybe one of his eyes was missing. Nope. The screened in cat. Free range cat on garbage day. Oh, I just like this balcony and the floors because it's this splash of European-ness in the middle of the city. Another cool bike--this one is a Schwinn. If I took myself seriously as a photographer and were like 14 years old, I would call this photo "Childhood Lost" or "The End of Childish Dreams," or "They Make Pink Legos??" I may have taken a picture of this before--I'm not sure. I just like it. And here is a link to The Daily Show's piece about the Florida pastor who wanted to burn the Koran (thanks to Leigh Ann who thinks it's funny but won't post it on her blog because she doesn't want to be too political): http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-september-8-2010/w...

This Does Not Count As My Photo Entry

We're not quite done with the cats-in-hats competition, but I did want to give you a behind the scenes look at what happens when you attempt to hat a cat.

Aren't You Excited...

Crazy Time

I missed the show on Monday b/c of my class, but luckily, they are replaying it tonight and I have no social life. How about if we just end the show right now and let her end up with Roberto. We love Roberto. Robert can speak 17 languages, but, mostly importantly, he speaks the language of la amor or el amore or ove-lay. They have the first one-on-one date and must take a helicopter to a skyscraper and then walk across a tight-rope to have a cheesy dinner on a rooftop and then end up a tent? Who put this date together, Evel Knievel? Aw, but the cutest thing is that they have their first kiss while floating in mid air, possibly about to tumble to their deaths. Together. I want to like Frank, but he can't make up his mind if he should or shouldn't wear his glasses. I would say shouldn't, but without them, he has the pinched squinty look of someone who really should put his specs on. Group date. Lots of hair gel and crappy t-shirts. OMG, the Bare Naked Ladies have shown up und...

Another cat video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm certain you will not ever be able to get enough of this. I know I can't!

I Must Use This Flip. It cost $$$$$$

You will have to suffer through more of my amateur home video crap. Here is Jenn Bing, acting like the super star that she is: And a short video of what my every morning is like:

One-Dimensional Men

Don't judge too harshly. We did this in 10 minutes after the show was finished. Quite obviously. Will try to improve in subsequent posts.
